"You are a terrible mother!" "Why can't you be more like her?" "What's wrong with you?"

Do you ever hear that voice in your head bombarding you with messages like these? Many women, but particularly those of us who have emerged from a toxic relationship, have THAT voice in their head- the inner voice that tells you that you don't measure up, you are not smart (or pretty or tall or kind) enough. I call that voice The Critic, which can be a block on the road to inner peace.

For years, I battled with The Critic. For me, The Critic was my ex's voice, constantly telling me that I was a failure as a mother and a woman.

You see, The Critic lives in our subconscious. That voice we hear is the voice of wounds from our childhood or damaging past relationships- precisely why The Critic is so dangerous to our spirits. The Critic can discourage us from acting in our best interest. How we speak to ourselves affects our confidence and self-esteem, relationships, and performance at work or home. The Critic loves to foster distrust, criticism, and separateness, all while undermining positive feelings about ourselves.

Luckily, The Critic can be tamed. I have spent the past seven years learning the keys to my healing and positive ways to control The Critic for my clients and myself. One of the reasons I founded Heart Flow was to share the practices I have learned.

I believe one of the most critical steps in healing is understanding yourself. Nothing helps you know who you are and how you operate more than your thoughts- the most personal part of you. Next time, I will share strategies for identifying The Critic.

Until then, if you want to get started on your path to personal healing, book a FREE 30-minute Discovery Session.

I would love to hear from you! What does your Critic tell you? Share in the comments below. Or, for help with your personal healing, contact me directly.
